Joining London's Capoeira Community: 2006

Hello, I'm Caline Cezimbra, and I'm honoured to be known in the Capoeira community as Professora "Areia." Since 2006, I've had the privilege of being part of London's vibrant Capoeira scene, sharing the art form I love with students from all walks of life.

I was born and raised in Brazil, and my passion for Capoeira and Brazilian dance runs deep in my soul. It's not just a martial art to me, it's a way of life, a connection to my cultural heritage, and a powerful tool for transformation. Beyond teaching Capoeira, I also specialise in Brazilian rhythms, bringing the heartbeat of Brazil into every class and creating immersive cultural experiences for my students.

As a teacher, I believe in blending the physical discipline of Capoeira with its profound historical and cultural roots. My mission is to foster confidence and empowerment in every student who walks through our doors, with a special dedication to helping women discover their strength and leadership within this beautiful art form. I'm committed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone, regardless of gender or background, can thrive, grow, and contribute to our evolving Capoeira community.

My Journey of Growth and Purpose

This year has been transformative for me in ways I never expected. In July 2025, I proudly completed my degree in Business and Marketing, a milestone that represents my vision to expand the global reach and influence of Capoeira and Brazilian dance. I also hold a diploma in Autism Awareness and a certificate in Physical Education, specialising in Coaching Styles and Techniques qualifications that reflect my commitment to inclusive and holistic teaching.

Earlier this year, in April, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. This diagnosis changed my perspective on everything, but it also revealed something profound: the true power of Capoeira. During my battle, I turned to the art form that has defined my life, and it became my sanctuary, my strength, and my weapon against fear. Capoeira kept me moving, kept me fighting, and kept my spirit alive. The battle has not ended, but I can tell you with absolute certainty that the power to keep light and life pulsing through my body has only grown stronger.

Empowering Women Through My Story

From this personal struggle, something beautiful was born. I've made it my mission to empower and bring awareness to women facing similar journeys. This October, we've expanded our events to include breast cancer awareness initiatives at Capoeira Club Croydon, creating a space where women can come together, find strength, and support one another.

It was also during this battle that I created Capoeira in Motion a line of Capoeira wear designed with empowerment messages at its heart. Each piece carries a message of resilience, strength, and the warrior spirit that lives within every woman. These aren't just clothes; they're a symbol of our collective power and a reminder that we are never alone in our struggles.

My Voice and Passion

Beyond teaching and advocacy, I'm also a songwriter. Music has always been my way of telling stories, uplifting communities, and preserving the sacred traditions of Capoeira. My song "A Minha Capoeira" is available on Spotify, and it represents my deep connection to this art form and my desire to share its essence with the world.

Why I Do This

I champion Capoeira as a transformative practice that promotes physical, mental, and community well-being. When you train with me at Capoeira Club Croydon, you're not just learning a martial art you're connecting with a global tradition that celebrates resilience, joy, and the indomitable spirit of Brazil. You're becoming part of a community that lifts each other up, especially our women.

My story is proof that even in the darkest moments, the rhythm of Capoeira can guide us back to light. I'm here to help you find that rhythm within yourself.
